This week I had numerous people thank me for consistently sharing such great information about LinkedIn, but here is the most interesting part. They also told me they've learned
professorso much about social media in general and the "new marketing world" as well from what I say and write.
.
This week I'd like to share with you a list of the people I am learning from so you can learn from them, too.
These are in no particular order and include a link to their blog or website so you can subscribe and links to their books, if applicable.

My Top 8 Social Media Learning Resources
a/k/a "The Smartest Guys/Gals in the Room"
.
1.  Mitch Joel
He is the author of one of the books I cut my social media teeth on, "Six Pixels of Separation," and the Twist Image Blog. He also has an incredibly popular weekly podcast. Read this book, follow the blog, and listen to the podcast, and you will not only learn a lot but become good friends with this friendly Canadian.
.
2.  Hubspot
They have tons of ebooks and resources and always have just what you need when you need it on their blog. They specialize in setting up websites with great inbound marketing features.
.
3.  David Meerman Scott
His book "The New Rules of Marketing & PR," now in its third edition, opened my eyes to how things are changing and I better be part of this change. His Web Ink Now blog is always filled with great case studies of companies he has helped.
 .
4.  Weidert Group
This is a full-service marketing firm, and these smart guys write incredible blog posts about inbound marketing, websites, and social media. They are an Appleton, Wisconsin based Hubspot agency, but their reach goes well beyond my beloved Badger State.
.
5.  Social Media Examiner
Michael Stelzner founded Social Media Examiner and has turned it into one of the real go-to sites for everything social media. Don't let the cartoon graphics on the site scare you away. The information they share is well thought out and very actionable. He authored the must-read social media book "Launch: How to Quickly Propel Your Business Beyond the Competition."
.
6.  Social Media B2B
Kipp Bodnar and Jeff Cohen's January 2012 book "The B2B Social Media Book" is a great step-by-step book covering all the major social media sites. Don't miss this book and their blog if you are in the B2B space.
.
7.  Likeable Media
Dave Kerpen is just as likeable as his awesome book "Likeable Social Media." His writing style is "Let's have a cup of coffee and I'll teach you something profound." His blog will help you understand what is important to customers (followers) and how to be efficient in interacting with them in this new world.
.
8.  Seth Godin
Of course, a list like this cannot be complete without the granddaddy of new marketing, Seth Godin. I think his middle name should be Change! My bookshelf is filled with his bestselling books, but be sure to check out "Tribes," "Linchpin," and the gold standard "Permission Marketing." His blog is quirky and often head-scratching, but stick with him and you, too, will change.
