If you don't have a company page or are wondering whether you need one, check out my article The Top 10 Reasons You Need a Company Page. All companies can benefit from having a LinkedIn company page, including nonprofits and companies with one employee.

I am not going to give you all the details on how to complete your new LinkedIn company page because the smart folks at Hubspot have done a great job with their free eBook A Step-by-Step Guide to LinkedIn's New Company Pages. Be sure to download yours right away.

Here is an overview of some of the action steps you don't want to miss when setting up and monitoring your LinkedIn company page.

Encourage...

-  company followers by including a
"Follow" button or widget on your website, emails, etc.  

-  all employees to have individual profiles with the correct company listed

-  your customers to recommend your products on your company page

-  all of your employees to "like" or "share" your company updates with their connections

-  all employees to have corporate calls to action on their individual profile

Share...

-  a
company status update several times per week (job openings, white papers, events, etc.)  

-  video on all product pages (product demonstrations, customer testimonials, etc.)

Display...

-  really cool, large banners on not only the Overview page but the general products page  

-  specific job postings using the Careers tab (this is a paid feature)

Offer...
 
-  the ability for the reader to receive something of value by clicking through to your website
 
-  a promo or special on each product page

Review... 

-  company pages of your competitors to uncover items you may have missed (and then "follow" your competitors)
 
-  the really helpful statistics (insights) relating to the activity on your company page

Include...  

-  your most important keywords in the Specialties section on the products pages
 
-  lots of links (calls to action) to your website (consider setting up special URLs for tracking)   
-  a link in every status update you post (this will bring up an eye-catching image)

If this sounds like too much work, keep in mind that if you Google your company name, there is a very high probability your LinkedIn company page will show up on page 1 of the search. Now, isn't that reason enough to go through the effort of getting your page up to snuff?
